Description
Science Fair by Tandy for Radio Shack, late70s.
Back when learning was hands-on and electronics were moving into the mainstream, a generation of budding engineers and scientists cut their teeth on these kits ... as well as many after-schoolers who were just looking for fun projects to build.
Easy-to-follow instructions for each experiment/circuit. This kit has a great pop-off cover over the components, and all controls and readouts are separately on the exterior front panel, allowing completed projects to be 'encased' and moved around easily. Note ease of circuit assembly (pictured is the GSR 'lie detector' project).
Recommended for ages 10 and above, but younger children can follow the illustrated instructions even before they can read the text ... although supervised play (learning!) is recommended.
What is most stunning in my mind is how quickly even these kits evolved. Less than a handful of years earlier, and the kits did not have LEDs, integrated circuits / logic gates, etc.. And, yet, all the concepts of how our advanced computers, cell phones, etc. operate are available for experimentation and understanding with this kit. Note that some quick research allows for 100s more than the 200 circuits in the included manual.
As suggested in the manual, a new volt/ohm meter has been included (w/ new internal battery).
I have also included a stand-alone 'door alarm and Morse code' kit (with instructions). We used these for a STEM station during our summer camp. Even kindergartners understood them (and had great fun with them), but would need help with assembly.
Offer includes new AA batteries (6) for the Science Fair kit, and new 9v battery for the stand-alone alarm kit.
Fast shipping, no hassles. Check my feedback.
